A Woman of Peace

Acts 16:13-15
On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.

Verse 13 talks about Paul trying to find the “place of prayer.” He is seeking to find those who are seekers of God. At this place, beside the river, Paul meets Lydia. Lydia is ready to respond to the Good News that Paul is preaching and the Lord opens her heart to respond. Lydia brings her whole family to be baptized and offers Paul hospitality.

  • Pray for women across Algeria to be seekers of God, and pray they would seek the Truth.
  • Pray that God will open their hearts as they hear people speak about Jesus Christ.
  • Pray that whole families will come to know Jesus together and be baptized.
  • Praise God for all the women who have found Jesus in the last few decades in Algeria.
  • Ask God that these women will grow in their faith and become leaders of other women.
  • Pray for a raising up of a women’s ministry in the churches of Algeria.
  • Pray that women will be trained and equipped to lead in the church.
  • Ask God for Christian women across Algeria to be given the burden for intercession, and to connect with other women across Algeria to pray for their nation.
